I became interested in photography in my early 20's. My first camera was a Zenit E, totally manual, with no metering system. It soon made me learn the all important relationship between shutter speed and aperture.

I didn't get serious until I joined the local camera club in the mid 90's. My film of choice became Fuji Velvia which suited my passion for macro and flower photography.

Over the years I have become more interested in landscapes, seascapes and street photography. The use of focus stacking has also opened up another dimension to my macro photography.

In December 2019 I started using an Olympus camera for my macro work to enable me to focus bracket, in camera. The small sensor also gave me greater magnification for photographing tiny subjects, such as slime moulds. An article explaining my technique was published in Amateur Photographer magazine in June 2020.

In September 2020 I was delighted to get two images selected for the top 100 gallery of the Close Up Photographer Of The Year (CUPOTY) 2020 competition. One of the images was awarded second place in the Plants and Fungi category.
